Pangolin smugglers, who normally obtained the service of the Orang Asli to avoid detection by the authorities, have changed their tactic by paying local fishermen to bring the animal to Malaysian shores. The new tactic was uncovered when the marine police here detained two fishermen in the Straits of Melaka near Tanjung Tohor, Parit Jawa, here yesterday and found 44 pangolins, worth RM50,000, in their boat.
